Floods
- What is it? An excess amount or overflow of water in one land area.
- How it happens? It can be the result of excess rain, melting snow, or a long period of time with storms.
- What to do to prepare? Know your area's susceptibility to floods, have documents in a waterproof containers, gather supplies, know your family plan, and have a disaster kit.
- What to do when it strikes? Evacuate if told to do so! DO NOT try to swim, walk, drive or anything else through floodwaters, don't go on bridges, and get to the highest level of the building your in.
- What to do after it occurs? Listen to authorities, Be careful when looking for damage in your home, animals may have taken refuge in your home. Do not wade in flood waters and do not touch electrical equipment.
